Prayer of Approach & Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom
come. Thy will be done, on earth as
it is in heaven. Give us this day our
daily bread. And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors. And lead
us not into temptation, but deliver
us from evil. For thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen.

Prayers for Others

Prayer of Thanksgiving for the
NHS at 75 - Said together

God of healing and compassion,
We thank you for the establishment
seventy-five years ago of the
National Health Service, And for
the care and healing of millions
that has come from it.

We thank you for the commitment
and dedication of all who have
worked in the NHS. Give skill,
compassion and resilience to all who
care now for those who are ill,
and your wisdom to those
engaged in medical research.
Strengthen them in their vocation
through your Spirit. Be their
strength and their shield, as they
give of themselves in the care
of others. Through Jesus Christ
our Lord, Amen.

Hymn 103
Fill Your Hearts with Joy and Gladness

CHURCH NEWS

1. A PILGRIMAGE TO IONA ABBEY
Today and over the next two Sunday
services, we will continue on a pilgrimage
to the island of Iona and around the
Abbey. Using as the backdrop the
life of St Columba, and of the
Benedictine community on Iona
in the Middle Ages, we will
explore the meaning of the
monastic tradition for our personal
faith and church life in the 21st
Century. Our principal guide over
the next few weeks will be the
book by George Lings, Seven
Sacred Spaces: Portals to Deeper
Community Life in Christ (2020).
The upcoming services will cover
these different ‘sacred spaces’
in and around Iona Abbey as follows:

9 July – ‘Chapel’
worshipping together

16 July – ‘Cloister and Chapterhouse’
meeting and living together in community

23 July – ‘Garden and Refectory’
work and hospitality.

2. OPEN TO ALL Coffee and tea will
be served in the Bill McDonald Hall at
the close of the Sunday services.
